Inexpensive laundry room update

There are a lot of easy and inexpensive things you can do to change the look of a room without spending a fortune. Moving the furniture around gives your room a whole new look and can satisfy your need for change without any cost.

Paint is the most obvious way to give a room a new look, and it will only cost you a few dollars and some time. With paint, you have endless options. You can paint the entire room one color; you can paint a feature wall ; or you can paint some type of design such as stripes, chevrons, or stencil work. With paint there are no limits. Lampshades are like little jewels scattered throughout a room. Change them and you change the mood. Try going from white to black, pleated to flat, or plain to patterned.

We built this vanity using wood and based the measurements off of our laundry baskets hehe! I wanted a specific basket to fit UNDER the plumbing and sink so I had my hubby build a vanity around those measurements. We built the base and then went shopping for a sink. We found our sink at a Your Home Discount Wharehouse, a local Home Depot reseller store and we got an amazing deal on it!

Once the sink was installed on the vanity, we used an old faucet in the sink until we found the perfect Laundry Room Sink Faucet from Vigo. I hope you enjoying seeing how we updated our laundry room! You can easily makeover a laundry room while on a budget by taking your time and doing some of the big updates in phases like we did! Turn on your JavaScript to view content.

Have you ever had trouble picking the right paint colors for your home? Choosing the right paint colors for your home can be overwhelming. Every home is different… the entryway in our first home was much different than the entryway in our second home , and both of those were very different from the entryway in our third home!

So I chose a different paint color for each entryway in all three of our homes. Not to mention, from the time that we bought our first home, to the time that we bought our third home, home paint color trends changed drastically.

I also have some ideas for choosing paint color combinations for bedrooms with themes! The ironing board can be stashed inside the cupboard when you don't need it. Convert a corner of a room into a tidy and efficient laundry center with a couple of cabinets and a small drop-in laundry tub. If you have a front-loading washer, extend the laminate countertop over it to create more work space. See the next two slides for details. A pull-out ironing board saves valuable floor space -- pull it out when you need it, slide it back into the drawer when you're done.

This Kraftmaid version comes as an optional kit with the cabinetry. Rockler rockler. Plastic-coated wire shelving from ClosetMaid closetmaid.

Keep laundry supplies attractively organized in clear canisters and cloth-lined baskets. The clothing rod is perfectly positioned for drip-dry items. If you have limited floor space, mount an accordion-style drying rack on the wall to air-dry delicate items. When it's not in use, collapse it back against the wall. Put the wall behind a door to work by building a fold-up rack for air-drying towels or other small items.

Make a simple frame of 1x2s and attach it to the wall. Assemble the drying rack from 1x2s and dowels to fit snugly inside the frame. A catch at the top keeps the rack in place when closed; hinges and a chain allow it to fall open for use.

Combine a wall-hung cabinet with a laundry-cart-on-wheels to turn a sliver of wall space into a convenient laundry center. An inexpensive iron holder attached to the side of the cabinet keeps the iron within reach, and a space-saving clothes hanger holds ironed items temporarily. A freestanding armoire or cabinet hides hampers, ironing board, and laundry supplies behind closed doors. Look for a cabinet with adjustable shelves so you can leave one side open for a clothes rod and ironing board.
